About Williamsburg Youth Orchestras:

WYO is comprised of seventy students, ranging in age from second through twelfth grade,

coming from the counties of Williamsburg/James City County, York, Gloucester, Surry, New Kent,

and Chesapeake, who come together each week to make music with the Williamsburg Youth

Orchestras. WYO’s Music Director, Akiko Fujimoto (Conducting Associate of the Virginia

Symphony), conducts the Symphony Orchestra, a full orchestra for intermediate and advanced

players. Veteran string educator Karey Sitzler leads the String Orchestra, a strings-only ensemble

for beginning and intermediate players. WYO also sponsors a chamber music program and a

summer music festival. WYO provides need-based scholarships for all of its programs.

 The program is seen by residents of Williamsburg and the many surrounding communities

that are home to WYO musicians.

 Our concerts are special occasions, held at the Kimball Theatre in Merchants Square.

 The size of our audience grows each year, due to advertising in the local media and

word of mouth. Our concerts are well-attended by a wide variety of music lovers, from

young families to residents of retirement communities.

 Programs are kept in family scrapbooks and shared with friends and family, so that your

advertisement will continue to promote your message long after the concert is over.
